No Gwyneth Paltrow On Glee Season 3 As Show Goes Back To Basics
By Jolie LashBEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Gwyneth Paltrows Holly Holliday wont be heading back to Glee any time soon. On Friday, Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment for FOX, said the celebrity guest spots are out for Glee as the show kicks off the 2011-2012 television season on September 21 at 8 PM. Theres not gonna be any big guests stars, theres not gonna be any be tribute numbers, he told reporters in Beverly Hills during the FOX portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Session 2011. Were focusing on our core characters and their relationships. There will be a graduation at the end Theres gonna be surprises, he added. Its not gonna be predictable. Reilly didnt rule out guest stars for the entire season, but said the first batch of episodes back will be focused on the regulars. The competition will be alive and well [be] driving to that graduation and what that means, he said. Darren Criss is now in the show, you will have the winner from The Glee Project joining at some point down the road, but youre gonna see much more focus on the characters, which is what the fans like. As Gleeks know, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer are the three stars whose characters co-creator and showrunner Ryan Murphy has said will graduate, but as for the rumored talk of a spin-off, centering around life after McKinley High, that is on hold. The spin off was in the wind and still is in the wind, Reilly said. We had decided to really focus on this year, he added. Youre gonna see a back to basics year this year.
